Ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the throttle is set to choke. Turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine starts, then release.
Check the battery connections for corrosion and ensure they are tight. Verify the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is open. Also, check the spark plug for damage or wear.
First, run the engine for a few minutes to warm the oil. Stop the engine, remove the oil drain plug, and let the oil drain completely. Replace the drain plug, remove the oil filter, and install a new one. Refill with new oil to the specified level.
Check if the PTO switch is functioning properly and ensure the belts are not broken or slipping. Inspect the battery charge and connections, as insufficient power can affect deck engagement.
Use the cutting height adjustment lever located near the driver's seat. Refer to the height settings indicated on the fender to select the desired cutting height.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level, inspecting and cleaning the air filter, checking tire pressure, and examining belts and blades for wear. Lubricate all grease points periodically.
Ensure the mower deck is level and the blades are sharp. Inspect the tires for proper inflation and check for any obstructions or debris around the blades.
Reduce speed when ascending or descending slopes, and ensure the tires are properly inflated. Adding wheel weights or tire chains can also enhance traction on slippery surfaces.
Check for debris or damage to the blades and ensure that they are balanced. Inspect the belt for proper tension and wear, and examine the engine mounts for looseness.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
