Ensure the tractor is on a flat surface. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the 'ON' position. Engage the choke if necessary and ensure the parking brake is engaged. Turn the key to the 'START' position until the engine fires up, then release the key to return it to the 'ON' position.
Use SAE 10W-30 oil for the Simplicity 2690817 Conquest Tractor. Ensure it meets or exceeds the API Service Classification SF, SG, SH, SJ or higher.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of operation, then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first.
Check the battery connections and ensure they are tight and free of corrosion. Make sure the fuel tank has fuel and the fuel valve is open. Ensure the PTO is disengaged and the parking brake is set. If the problem persists, consult the manual for further troubleshooting steps.
Use the deck lift lever located on the right side of the operator's seat. Move the lever forward or backward to adjust the deck to the desired cutting height.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil and oil filter, add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank, and check the tire pressure. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Locate the air filter cover on the engine. Remove the cover by loosening the screws or clips. Take out the old air filter and replace it with a new one. Reattach the cover securely.
Check for debris lodged in the mower deck and remove it. Inspect the blades for damage or imbalance and replace if necessary. Ensure the blade mounting screws are tight. If the issue persists, consult a professional technician.
Check the tire pressure to ensure it's even on all sides. Inspect the mower blades for sharpness and replace if dull. Ensure the deck is level and adjust if necessary. Clean the underside of the deck to remove any buildup.
After each use, remove any grass clippings and debris with a hose or scraper. Ensure the tractor is off and the blades have stopped moving before cleaning. For a more thorough cleaning, use a deck wash system if available.
