Ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the throttle is in the choke position if the engine is cold. Turn the key to the start position until the engine fires, then release it to the run position.
Perform oil changes every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. Check and clean the air filter every 25 hours. Sharpen or replace mower blades annually and inspect the belts for wear regularly.
Check the battery connections for corrosion and ensure they are tight. Verify the fuel level and quality. Ensure that the spark plug is clean and properly gapped. Check the safety switches, including the seat and brake switches, for proper operation.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C) and SAE 5W-30 for temperatures below 40°F (4°C). Always refer to the owner’s manual for the manufacturer's recommendations.
To adjust the mower deck, park the tractor on a level surface. Use the deck lift lever to set the deck to the desired height. Adjust the deck wheels so they are 1/4 inch off the ground.
Check the air filter for dirt and debris and clean or replace it if necessary. Inspect the spark plug and replace it if it is fouled. Ensure that the fuel is fresh and that the fuel lines are not clogged.
First, disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Use a wrench to remove the blade bolts while wearing protective gloves. Install the new blades, ensuring they are aligned correctly and securely fastened.
Check if the mower deck is level and adjust as needed. Inspect the blades for sharpness and replace them if they are dull or damaged. Ensure that the tires are properly inflated for even cutting.
Consider using wheel weights or tire chains to improve traction, especially in slippery or uneven terrain. Ensure the tires are inflated to the correct pressure as per the manufacturer's guidelines.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, removing all grass and debris. Stabilize the fuel with a fuel stabilizer, run the engine for a few minutes, then change the oil and filter. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place.
