To change the oil, first ensure the tractor is on a level surface. Remove the oil drain plug and allow the old oil to fully drain into a container. Replace the drain plug and fill the engine with new oil as specified in the user manual. Check the oil level with the dipstick and add more oil if necessary.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87. Avoid fuels with high ethanol content, as they can damage the engine components over time.
Check the battery terminals for corrosion and ensure they are tightly connected. Use a multimeter to test the battery voltage; it should read around 12.6 volts. If the battery is low, try charging it or replacing it if necessary.
Refer to the owner's manual for the maintenance schedule. Typically, you should change the oil every 50 hours of use, replace the air filter annually, and sharpen the blades every season. Additionally, check tire pressure and inspect belts regularly.
Locate the height adjustment lever on the tractor deck. Move the lever to the desired cutting height position. Ensure both sides are set to the same height for an even cut.
Check for any debris or build-up under the deck and remove it. Inspect the blades for damage or imbalance and sharpen or replace them if needed. Ensure all fasteners and bolts are tight and the drive belt is properly aligned.
Locate the air filter cover on the side of the engine. Remove the cover, take out the old air filter, and insert a new one. Replace the cover and ensure it is securely fastened.
Ensure the tire pressure is equal on all tires, and check that the mower deck is level. Inspect the blades for sharpness and damage, and replace or sharpen them if necessary.
Stop the tractor and allow it to cool down. Check the engine oil level and top it up if low. Inspect the cooling fins for debris and clean them. Ensure the air intake is not blocked.
Clean the tractor thoroughly and remove any grass or debris. Change the oil and run the engine to distribute the fresh oil. Add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
