To start the Simplicity 2690307 Legacy XL Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is off, and the motion control levers are in the neutral position. Insert the key and turn it to the start position until the engine begins, then release the key.
The engine oil should be changed after the first 5 hours of operation, and then every 50 hours thereafter, or annually, whichever comes first. Check the owner’s manual for specific oil type recommendations.
To adjust the cutting deck, park the tractor on a flat surface and ensure the engine is off. Use the height adjustment lever to set the desired cutting height. For leveling, adjust the deck hangers to ensure even cutting height across the deck.
Uneven cutting can be caused by an unlevel deck, dull blades, or incorrect tire pressure. Check and adjust the deck level, sharpen or replace the blades, and ensure all tires are inflated to the recommended pressure.
If the engine fails to start, check the battery connections, fuel level, and ensure the PTO is disengaged and the parking brake is on. Inspect the spark plug and replace if necessary. Refer to the troubleshooting section of the manual if the problem persists.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing engine oil, inspecting and cleaning the air filter, checking tire pressure, lubricating moving parts, and inspecting belts and blades for wear. Refer to the maintenance schedule in the manual for detailed instructions.
Always wear appropriate safety gear, clear the area of people and debris, never leave the tractor running unattended, and operate only in well-lit conditions. Ensure all safety guards are in place and functioning.
To improve fuel efficiency, ensure regular maintenance is performed, operate at recommended speeds, avoid excessive idling, and use fuel additives if recommended by the manufacturer. Clean air filters and properly inflated tires also contribute to better efficiency.
For off-season storage, clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, stabilize the fuel, remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place, and cover the tractor to protect it from dust and debris. Store in a dry, sheltered location if possible.
To replace mower blades, ensure the tractor is off and parked on a flat surface. Use safety gloves and turn the mower deck to access the blades. Remove the blade bolts, replace with new blades, and secure them tightly. Make sure the blades are balanced before use.
