To change the oil, first park the tractor on a level surface. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool. Locate the oil drain valve under the engine. Place an oil collection tray underneath and open the valve. Once drained, replace the oil filter and refill with the recommended oil type and amount.
To adjust the mower deck, ensure the tractor is on a flat surface and the engine is off. Refer to the user manual to adjust the deck height using the lift lever. You may need to adjust the deck leveling bolts to ensure even cutting.
Check that the battery is charged and the terminals are clean and tight. Ensure the fuel tank has fresh fuel and the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage. Additionally, check the safety switches and wiring connections.
To winterize, clean the tractor thoroughly and remove any debris. Change the oil and replace the oil filter. Add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank and run the engine for a few minutes. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the mower deck and store the tractor in a dry location.
First, disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a spark plug socket to remove the old spark plug. Check the gap on the new spark plug and adjust if necessary. Install the new spark plug by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten with the socket. Reconnect the spark plug wire.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, replacing the oil filter, inspecting and cleaning the air filter, checking the tire pressure, lubricating moving parts, and inspecting the belts and blades for wear.
Use a tire pressure gauge to check the pressure in each tire. Refer to the owner's manual for the recommended tire pressure. If adjustment is needed, add or release air using an air compressor or tire inflator.
First, check the blades for dullness or damage and sharpen or replace them if necessary. Ensure the blade is correctly installed and the deck is level. Inspect the belt for wear or damage and replace if needed.
Locate the air filter cover and remove it. Take out the air filter and inspect it for debris. If it's a foam filter, wash it with mild detergent and water, then let it dry. For paper filters, tap gently to remove dust or replace if heavily soiled. Reinstall the filter and secure the cover.
Store the tractor in a clean, dry area away from moisture. Clean the tractor thoroughly before storage. Remove the battery and store it separately. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and debris. Regularly check the condition during storage and perform maintenance before the next use.
