Ensure the parking brake is engaged. Set the throttle to mid-position and turn the ignition key to the start position until the engine starts. Release the key once the engine is running.
Perform regular maintenance every 50 hours of operation. This includes checking the oil, air filter, and inspecting belts and blades. Change oil and filter every 100 hours.
Check the battery connections for corrosion or looseness, ensure the fuel tank has fuel, and verify that the spark plugs are clean and functional.
Run the engine for a few minutes to warm up the oil. Turn off the engine and place a pan under the oil drain valve. Open the valve to drain the oil, replace the oil filter, and refill with new oil.
Check the PTO switch to ensure it is in the 'on' position. Inspect the drive belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Verify the clutch is functioning correctly.
Locate the deck lift lever on the right side of the tractor. Move the lever to raise or lower the deck to the desired cutting height. Ensure it locks into place.
Locate the air filter cover on the engine. Remove the cover and take out the air filter. Inspect for dirt and damage. Replace with a new filter if necessary and reattach the cover.
Clean the tractor thoroughly to remove dirt and debris. Change the oil and filter, top off the fuel tank with stabilizer, and store in a dry, covered area. Disconnect the battery to prevent drainage.
Check the transmission fluid level and add if necessary. Inspect for leaks or damage to the transmission system. Ensure that the transmission belt is intact and properly tensioned.
Regular maintenance, such as keeping the air filter clean, ensuring tires are properly inflated, and using the recommended grade of oil, can improve fuel efficiency. Avoid overloading the tractor and operate at optimal speed.
