To start the tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the transmission is in neutral. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the start position. Release the key once the engine starts.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol (E10) to prevent engine damage.
Change the engine oil after the first 5 hours of operation and then every 50 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Use high-quality 4-cycle engine oil.
Check the battery connections for corrosion, ensure the fuel tank has fresh gasoline, inspect the spark plug, and verify the ignition switch is operational.
To adjust the mower deck, set the tractor on a flat surface, use the deck lift lever to raise or lower the deck to the desired height, and ensure the deck is level from front to back and side to side.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, cleaning the air filter, inspecting the blades, checking tire pressure, and ensuring all bolts and nuts are tight.
Ensure the mower deck is level, check blade sharpness, inspect for bent blades, and verify that tire pressure is even on all tires.
Check for clogs in the cooling fins, ensure the engine has enough oil, and inspect the air filter for dirt and debris. Clean or replace parts as necessary.
Maintain the engine by keeping the air filter clean, ensuring the spark plug is in good condition, and using the correct fuel type. Regular maintenance can lead to better fuel efficiency.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, empty the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, disconnect the battery, and store the tractor in a dry, covered location.
