To change the oil, first run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up. Turn off the engine and remove the key. Place a container under the engine and remove the oil drain plug. Allow the old oil to drain completely. Replace the drain plug and add the new oil as specified in the owner's manual.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol.
Check the battery connections to ensure they are clean and tight. Verify that the fuel valve is open and there is enough fuel. Make sure the PTO is disengaged and the transmission is in neutral or park. If the engine still doesn’t start, check the spark plug and replace if necessary.
Park the tractor on a flat surface and turn off the engine. Adjust the deck wheels to the desired cutting height. Use the lift lever to set the deck height. Refer to the owner's manual for specific height settings and ensure the deck is level from side to side.
The air filter should be checked before each use and replaced every 100 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. Operating in dusty conditions may require more frequent replacements.
Ensure the mower deck is level and that the blades are sharp and properly installed. Check for any clogs or obstructions in the deck. If the problem persists, inspect the spindles and belts for wear or damage.
Clean the tractor thoroughly and remove any grass clippings. Change the oil and replace the air filter. Add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel system. Store the tractor in a dry, covered area. Disconnect the battery and charge it periodically during storage.
The recommended tire pressure is typically found in the owner's manual. Generally, it is around 10-14 psi for the rear tires and 12-15 psi for the front tires, but check the manual for exact specifications.
Inspect the drive belt for signs of wear such as cracks, fraying, or glazing. If the belt slips or you notice a loss of power, it may be time to replace it. Typically, belts should be replaced every 100-200 hours of operation or as needed.
Check the engine cooling fins and clean them if they are dirty. Ensure that the engine has enough oil and the air filter is clean. Verify that the cooling fan is functioning properly. If the problem continues, seek professional service.
