To start the Simplicity 1693973 Prestige Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO is off, and the throttle is set to a mid position. Insert the key, turn it to the 'Start' position, and release it once the engine starts.
The recommended maintenance schedule includes checking the oil level before each use, changing the oil and oil filter every 50 hours, inspecting the air filter every 25 hours, and sharpening the blades every 25 hours.
If the tractor won't start, check the battery connections for corrosion, ensure the fuel tank has fuel, inspect the spark plug for fouling, and verify that the safety switches are engaged properly.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid ethanol blends greater than 10% as they can damage the engine components.
To adjust the cutting height, use the height adjustment lever located near the operator seat. Move the lever to the desired cutting height position, ranging from 1.5 to 4 inches.
To winterize the tractor, clean the mower deck, change the oil, add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank, remove the battery and store it in a cool dry place, and cover the tractor to protect it from the elements.
First, disconnect the spark plug wire. Lift the mower deck and secure it. Use a wrench to remove the blade bolts, and remove the old blades. Install new blades, ensuring they are installed correctly, and tighten the bolts securely.
To check the transmission fluid, ensure the tractor is on level ground. Locate the transmission dipstick, remove it, wipe it clean, reinsert it, and then remove it again to check the level. Add transmission fluid as needed using a funnel.
To improve traction, consider using tire chains, reduce the tire pressure slightly, and add rear wheel weights. Always operate the tractor at a safe speed and avoid sudden movements on slopes.
Inspect the belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Ensure the pulleys are clean and free of debris. Check the belt tension and adjust the tensioner if the belt slips.
