To change the oil, first warm up the engine for a few minutes, then turn it off. Place a container under the oil drain valve, remove the oil cap, and open the drain valve. Allow the old oil to completely drain out. Replace the drain valve cap and refill with the recommended oil type to the appropriate level.
Check the battery connections to ensure they are clean and tight. Verify that the fuel tank has sufficient fuel. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Also, make sure the parking brake is engaged and the PTO is off.
To adjust the cutting height, locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the tractor. Move the lever to the desired position for your preferred cutting height. Ensure the deck is level for an even cut.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent damage to the engine components.
Sharpen the mower blades after every 25 hours of use or at the start of each mowing season. Dull blades can tear grass, causing brown tips and increasing susceptibility to disease.
Inspect the tire pressure and ensure all tires are inflated to the recommended levels. Check if the mower deck is level and adjust if necessary. Also, examine the blades for sharpness and bends.
Locate the air filter housing on the engine. Remove the cover and take out the old filter. Insert a new air filter and secure the cover back in place. Ensure the filter is seated properly to prevent debris from entering the engine.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced blades or debris stuck in the mower deck. Check the blades for balance and sharpen or replace if needed. Clean any debris from the deck and ensure all mounting hardware is secure.
After each use, clean the mower deck by using a garden hose to spray off grass clippings and debris. For thorough cleaning, safely lift the tractor and scrape off any stubborn buildup using a plastic scraper.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil, inspecting the air filter, sharpening the blades, checking tire pressure, and cleaning the mower deck. Consult the owner's manual for a detailed maintenance schedule.
