Ensure the tractor is on a level surface, the brake is engaged, and the PTO is disengaged. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it clockwise to start the tractor.
Check the fuel level, battery connections, and ensure the throttle is set to 'choke' if the engine is cold. If problems persist, inspect the spark plug and fuel filter.
Change the oil every 50 hours of operation or at the beginning of each season, whichever comes first. Use high-quality oil recommended by the manufacturer.
Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content.
Locate the deck height adjustment lever on the tractor. Move the lever to the desired height position, ensuring the deck is level for an even cut.
Check the transmission fluid level and ensure it is within the recommended range. Inspect the drive belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
Locate the air filter housing, remove the cover, and take out the old air filter. Insert a new air filter, ensuring it is properly seated, and replace the cover.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, check and change fluids if necessary, disconnect the battery, and store the tractor in a dry, sheltered location. Consider using a fuel stabilizer.
Ensure the mower blades are sharp and balanced. Check that the deck is level and the tire pressure is even on all tires. Adjust as necessary for consistent cutting.
Inspect the mower blades for damage or imbalance, check the engine mounts, and ensure all bolts and screws are tightened. Balance the blades if needed.
