Ensure the tractor is on a flat surface, the parking brake is engaged, and the PTO switch is off. Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the 'Start' position until the engine starts. Release the key once the engine is running.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F (4°C) and SAE 5W-30 or 10W-30 for temperatures below 40°F (4°C). Always ensure the oil meets API service classification SJ or higher.
Perform routine maintenance every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. This includes oil changes, air filter checks, and inspecting all belts and blades.
Check if the fuel tank is full and the battery is charged. Inspect the spark plug for wear and replace if necessary. Ensure the PTO switch is off and the parking brake is engaged.
Park the tractor on a flat surface, remove the ignition key, and disconnect the spark plug wire. Raise the mower deck to its highest position, and use a wrench to remove the blade bolts. Replace the blades, ensuring the cutting edge faces the correct direction, and tighten the bolts securely.
Maintain the front tires at 14 psi and the rear tires at 10 psi for optimal performance and longevity. Regularly check tire pressure to ensure it remains at the recommended levels.
Sharpen the mower blades regularly and ensure the mower deck is clean and free from debris. Adjust the deck height to suit the grass conditions, and mow when the grass is dry.
Check for loose or damaged blades and ensure they are balanced. Inspect the drive belts for wear or damage and replace them if necessary. Tighten any loose bolts or fasteners on the mower deck and engine assembly.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and stabilize the fuel. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Inflate the tires to the recommended pressure and cover the tractor to protect it from the elements.
Regularly check the battery terminals for corrosion and clean them if necessary. Ensure the battery is fully charged and check the electrolyte level, topping up with distilled water if needed. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.
