Ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the transmission is in neutral. Insert the key and turn it to the start position until the engine starts.
Use clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Do not use E85 or other ethanol blends above 10%.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use and then every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first.
Check the battery connections, ensure there is fuel in the tank, verify that the spark plug is in good condition, and ensure all safety switches are engaged.
Use the cutting height adjustment lever located next to the seat to select the desired mowing height.
Check for unbalanced or damaged blades, loose engine mounting bolts, or debris lodged in the deck.
Ensure the tire pressure is equal on all tires, check that the mower deck is level, and inspect the blades for sharpness and damage.
Keep the battery terminals clean and tight, charge the battery regularly if the tractor is not used frequently, and replace the battery if it no longer holds a charge.
Use a garden hose to spray off grass clippings and debris. Avoid using high-pressure washers as they can damage components.
Check the transmission fluid level, inspect the drive belt for wear or damage, and ensure the transmission linkage is properly adjusted.
