To change the oil, first ensure the engine is off and cool. Remove the oil drain plug and allow the old oil to completely drain into a suitable container. Replace the drain plug, remove the oil filter, and install a new one. Fill the engine with the recommended type and amount of oil, then check the oil level with the dipstick.
Check the battery connections for corrosion or looseness. Ensure the fuel tank has sufficient fuel and the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage, and replace if necessary. Additionally, ensure the PTO is off and the parking brake is engaged before attempting to start.
Regularly clean the cutting deck to prevent grass buildup. Sharpen the blades at least once per season or when they become dull. Check and adjust the deck belt tension, and inspect for any damage. Lubricate the deck spindles and other moving parts as recommended in the owner's manual.
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content, as it can cause engine damage. Always store fuel in a clean, approved container and avoid contamination.
Check that the tire pressures are equal on all sides. Inspect the cutting blades for damage or wear, and replace if necessary. Ensure the deck is level by adjusting the deck hanger brackets. Clear any debris that may be obstructing the deck's movement.
Perform regular oil changes, replace the air filter annually, and check the spark plugs. Inspect the belts and replace them if they show signs of wear. Clean the cooling fins and check the tire pressure regularly. Lubricate all moving parts according to the maintenance schedule.
Locate the deck height adjustment lever on the tractor. Move the lever to the desired cutting height. Ensure that the deck is level by measuring the blade tips to the ground on both sides and adjusting the deck hangers if necessary.
Clean the tractor thoroughly and remove any grass clippings. Change the oil and oil filter, and add a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank. Store the tractor in a dry, covered area. Disconnect the battery and keep it on a trickle charger if possible.
Ensure the tires are properly inflated and consider using tire chains for additional traction. Adding weights or a ballast to the rear of the tractor can also help improve traction, especially on inclines or wet surfaces.
Stop the tractor and allow the engine to cool down. Check the cooling fins for debris and clean them if necessary. Ensure the engine has the appropriate amount of oil and coolant. Inspect the air intake for blockages and clean the air filter regularly.
