To start the Simplicity 1690313 Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the throttle is set to 'fast'. Turn the ignition key to the 'start' position until the engine begins, then release the key.
Check if the battery is charged and the terminals are clean. Ensure there's fuel in the tank and the fuel valve is open. Verify that the spark plug is functioning and replace it if necessary.
Regular maintenance includes checking and changing the oil every 50 hours of use, cleaning or replacing the air filter, sharpening or replacing mower blades, and checking tire pressure.
Ensure the PTO switch is engaged. Check the drive belt for wear or damage and replace if necessary. Make sure the cutting deck is properly connected to the tractor.
To change the oil, run the engine for a few minutes to warm it up, then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug and let the old oil drain into a container. Replace the drain plug, remove the oil filter, and install a new one. Fill with new oil as specified in the manual.
Refer to the owner’s manual for the recommended oil type, usually SAE 30 or 10W-30 for varying temperature ranges. Always use high-quality oil that meets the engine manufacturer's specifications.
Park the tractor on a flat surface. Measure the distance from the blade tip to the ground on both sides of the deck. Adjust the deck hangers until the measurements are equal for an even cut.
Excessive vibration can be caused by unbalanced or damaged mower blades, loose bolts or components, or a damaged drive belt. Inspect these parts and replace or tighten as necessary.
Remove the spark plug wire, clean around the spark plug area to prevent debris from entering the engine, and use a spark plug wrench to remove the old spark plug. Install the new spark plug and reconnect the wire.
Check for obstructions in the air intake and cooling fins. Ensure the oil level is adequate and that the correct oil type is used. Clean the engine cooling fins and check the radiator (if applicable) for coolant levels.
