Ensure the tractor is on a level surface and disengage the PTO. Set the throttle to half, turn the ignition key to the 'Start' position, and release it once the engine starts.
Check the battery connections and ensure they are clean and tight. Verify that the fuel tank has gasoline and that the fuel shutoff valve is open. Also, inspect the fuses and replace any that are blown.
Warm up the engine, then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug and let the oil drain into a pan. Replace the plug and refill with new oil as per the specifications in the owner's manual.
Use SAE 30 oil for summer temperatures and SAE 5W-30 for winter, or as recommended in the owner's manual.
Sharpen the mower blades every 25 hours of use or whenever you notice the grass is not cutting cleanly.
Inspect the mower blades for damage or imbalance. Ensure all mounting bolts are tight and check for debris stuck in the mower deck.
Check the tire pressure to ensure it is equal on both sides. Inspect the blades for sharpness and ensure the mower deck is level.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, change the oil, and add a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place.
Use the cutting height adjustment lever located near the seat to set the desired height. Ensure the deck is level by measuring from the ground to the blade tips on each side.
Check for clogged air filters or fuel lines, and inspect the spark plug for dirt or wear. Ensure the fuel is fresh and the engine is not overheating.
