Sealey SM1303.V2 Instruction Manual

To properly tension the blade, first ensure the machine is turned off and unplugged. Release the blade tension lever and adjust the tension knob until the blade is taut. The blade should deflect slightly under pressure but remain aligned within the guides.
To replace the blade, disconnect the bandsaw from the power source. Open the wheel covers, release the tension, and carefully remove the old blade. Install the new blade, ensuring it runs correctly over the wheels and through the guides, then retension and check alignment.
If the blade wanders, check the blade tension and adjust as needed. Ensure the blade guides and bearings are properly aligned and not worn. Also, inspect the blade for dullness or damage, which can cause wandering.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 20-30 hours of use. This includes checking blade tension, cleaning dust from the machine, inspecting the blade for wear, and lubricating moving parts as necessary.
For cutting metal, use a bi-metal blade with a fine tooth pitch suitable for the material thickness. Ensure the blade is rated for metal cutting to avoid damage to the blade and workpiece.
The cutting speed can be adjusted using the speed control knob located on the side of the machine. Refer to the user manual for recommended speeds based on the material being cut.
If the motor does not start, check the power supply and ensure the machine is plugged in. Inspect the fuse and reset any tripped breakers. Also, check the motor brushes and replace if worn.
Ensure accurate cuts by regularly calibrating the fence and miter gauge. Check that the blade is square to the table and aligned properly. Use a sharp, appropriate blade for the material being cut.
After ensuring the machine is unplugged, use a brush or vacuum to remove dust and debris from the bandsaw, including the blade guides and wheels. Wipe down the table and surfaces with a damp cloth.
To improve longevity, perform regular maintenance, use the correct blade for each material, and avoid forcing the blade through cuts. Keep the machine clean and store it in a dry environment to prevent rust.
