To measure AC current, turn the rotary switch to the AC current (A~) position. Open the clamp by pressing the trigger and enclose the conductor within the clamp. Ensure that the jaws are completely closed around the conductor to get an accurate reading.
The "OL" message indicates an overload condition. Ensure that you are using the correct setting for the measurement you are taking. If measuring current, check that the conductor size is within the range of the clamp meter.
No, the Sealey MM405 Clamp Meter is designed to measure AC current only. For DC current measurement, a different model with DC capability is required.
Regularly calibrate the clamp meter according to the manufacturer's instructions. Keep the device clean and store it in a cool, dry place. Avoid dropping or subjecting it to mechanical shock.
First, switch off the clamp meter. Open the battery compartment cover located at the back of the device. Remove the old batteries and insert new ones, ensuring correct polarity. Replace the cover securely.
To test voltage, set the rotary switch to the voltage (V) setting. Connect the test leads to the circuit, ensuring correct connection to get an accurate reading.
Check if the batteries are installed correctly and have sufficient charge. Replace them if necessary. Also, ensure that the battery contacts are clean and free from corrosion.
Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Avoid measuring current in circuits with voltage higher than the meter's specified limit. Do not touch exposed conductors while measuring.
Set the rotary switch to the continuity test mode. Connect the test leads to the component or circuit. A continuous circuit will be indicated by a beep sound.
Store the clamp meter in its protective case in a dry, dust-free environment. Remove the batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
