To break in the engine, start by running the engine at a rich fuel mixture for the first few tanks of fuel. Avoid full throttle during the initial break-in period, and gradually increase speed and throttle as you progress through 4-5 tanks, ensuring proper lubrication and sealing.
Use high-quality, 2-stroke gasoline mixed with 2-cycle oil at a 25:1 ratio. Always check the manufacturer's recommendations for specific oil types and mixing ratios.
Check the spark plug for fouling or damage, ensure the fuel lines are clear and not leaking, verify the carburetor settings, and confirm the air filter is clean. If problems persist, inspect the ignition system.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning and oiling the air filter, checking and tightening all screws and bolts, inspecting the suspension for wear, and cleaning the chassis and drivetrain after each use.
Adjust the shock absorbers to a softer setting to absorb bumps better. You may also increase ground clearance by adjusting the preload spacers on the shocks. Experiment with different spring rates and shock oil viscosities for optimal performance.
Inspect the fuel system for blockages or leaks, check the air filter for dirt, and clean the carburetor. Additionally, ensure the exhaust is not obstructed and verify the spark plug is functioning correctly.
Consider upgrading the exhaust system, using performance air filters, re-tuning the carburetor for optimal air-fuel mixture, and installing lightweight components to reduce weight.
Check for any obstructions or damage to the steering linkage, ensure the servo is functioning properly, and verify the wheels are aligned correctly. Adjust the steering endpoints on the transmitter if necessary.
Remove the wheel nuts using a wrench, take off the old tires, and fit the new ones onto the rims. Secure them with the wheel nuts and ensure they spin freely without wobbling.
Drain the fuel from the tank and carburetor, clean the vehicle thoroughly, store it in a cool, dry place, and disconnect the battery to prevent discharge. Periodically rotate the tires to avoid flat spots.
