To thread the machine, first raise the presser foot to release the tension discs. Follow the threading diagram on the machine, ensuring the thread passes through the tension discs, take-up lever, and needle. Ensure the thread is securely in place in all guides.
Check the needle to ensure it is not bent or dull and is the correct type and size for your fabric. Also, verify the threading is correct and the tension settings are appropriate for the fabric being used.
Regularly clean the machine by removing lint and dust, especially around the feed dogs and bobbin area. Lubricate the machine as per the manufacturer's instructions, and keep the machine covered when not in use to prevent dust accumulation.
Unusual noises can be caused by a lack of lubrication, incorrect threading, or a problem with the bobbin. Check that the machine is threaded correctly, the bobbin is properly inserted, and apply oil where necessary.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. Test the stitch on a scrap piece of fabric, adjusting the dial incrementally until the desired tension is achieved. Ensure that both upper and lower tensions are balanced.
Check the feed dogs to ensure they are raised and not obstructed by debris. Verify that the presser foot pressure is appropriate for the fabric thickness and that the stitch length setting is not too short.
Ensure the thread is of good quality and suitable for the fabric. Double-check the threading path for any snags, and adjust the tension settings. A correctly inserted needle of the right size and type is also crucial.
Turn off the machine and raise the needle to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp screw, remove the old needle, and insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back. Tighten the clamp screw securely.
Ensure the bobbin is correctly seated in the bobbin winder and that there is enough tension on the thread. Check that the bobbin winder spindle is clean and free from obstructions. Adjust the tension disk if necessary.
Allow the machine to rest and cool down, ensuring it is not running continuously for extended periods. Clean the motor area to ensure proper ventilation and check for any obstructions. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
