To start the Craftsman CMECS600 chainsaw, ensure the chain brake is engaged, plug the saw into a power source, and press the safety lock button while squeezing the trigger to start the motor.
If the chainsaw doesn't start, check the power source and extension cord connection, inspect the chain brake, and ensure that the safety lock button and trigger are being pressed correctly.
To maintain chain tension, turn the chain tensioning screw clockwise to tighten or counterclockwise to loosen the chain. Make sure the chain is snug but can still be pulled around the bar by hand.
After use, unplug the chainsaw, remove the chain and guide bar, and clean them with a brush. Wipe down the body of the saw with a damp cloth to remove sawdust and debris.
Sharpen the chain every time you refuel, or whenever you notice it becoming less effective at cutting. Use a round file and guide to maintain the correct angle.
Use a high-quality bar and chain oil specifically designed for chainsaws. This oil is formulated to adhere to the chain and provide efficient lubrication.
Check the oil reservoir for proper levels, inspect the oil outlet for blockages, and ensure the oil pump is functioning. Clean or replace parts as necessary.
A chain may come off due to improper tension or a damaged bar/chain. Adjust the tension properly and inspect for wear or damage, replacing parts if needed.
To replace the chain, first unplug the saw, remove the bar cover, loosen the tension, and remove the old chain. Fit the new chain onto the bar, ensuring teeth face forward, and adjust tension before replacing the cover.
Regular maintenance includes checking chain tension, sharpening the chain, cleaning the saw, inspecting the cord for damage, and ensuring proper lubrication.
