To ignite your Coleman Summer-Lite LP Gas Lantern 5121, first ensure the lantern is on a stable surface. Turn the regulator valve to the "off" position, connect the propane cylinder, and slowly open the valve. Use a long lighter or match to ignite the mantle through the ignition hole. Adjust the valve to achieve the desired brightness.
If your lantern is not lighting, check that the propane cylinder is properly connected and not empty. Ensure the regulator valve is open and inspect the mantle for damage or improper installation. Clean the burner tube if necessary.
To replace the mantle, ensure the lantern is cool and remove the globe. Detach the old mantle, tie the new mantle onto the burner, and trim excess string. Light the mantle without turning on the gas to allow it to burn and form properly before use.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the burner tube and globe, checking the condition of the mantle, and ensuring all connections are secure. Store the lantern in a dry place when not in use to prevent rust.
Disconnect the propane cylinder and ensure the lantern is cool before storing. Keep the lantern in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and moisture to prevent damage.
Flickering can be caused by an unstable propane flow or a damaged mantle. Check the propane cylinder connection and ensure the valve is fully open. Inspect the mantle for holes or tears and replace if necessary.
While the lantern can be used in mild wind, it is not recommended for extremely windy conditions as the flame may be extinguished. Use a windscreen or shield the lantern from direct wind to maintain a stable flame.
The Coleman Summer-Lite LP Gas Lantern 5121 is compatible with standard 16.4 oz (465 g) disposable propane cylinders. Ensure the cylinder is properly attached and tightened before use.
To clean the globe, ensure the lantern is off and cool. Remove the globe and wash it with mild soap and warm water. Dry it thoroughly before reassembling to prevent moisture build-up.
If you smell gas, immediately turn off the lantern and move away from the area. Check for leaks in the propane cylinder and connections. Do not use the lantern again until the issue is resolved and all connections are secure.
