Coleman LP Gas Barbecue 9958 Series Instruction Manual

To ignite the grill, first open the lid. Turn the gas supply on by opening the propane tank valve completely. Press and turn the burner control knob to the "Ignite" position, then push the electronic igniter button. If ignition does not occur within 5 seconds, turn the burner control knob off and wait 5 minutes before trying again.
If the grill will not light, ensure that the propane tank is full and properly connected. Check the igniter for a spark and ensure the burners are not blocked. If the problem persists, consult the troubleshooting section of the manual or contact customer support.
To clean the burners, ensure the grill is off and cool. Remove the cooking grates and heat tents, then detach the burners. Use a brush to clean any debris from the burner ports, and ensure they are free of obstructions. Reassemble the grill once cleaning is complete.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the grill grates, checking the burners for blockages, inspecting the hoses for leaks, and cleaning the exterior surfaces. It's also important to store the grill in a dry place when not in use to prevent rust.
To check for gas leaks, apply a soap and water solution to the gas connections and hoses. Turn on the gas supply without lighting the grill. If you see bubbles forming, there is a leak. Turn off the gas supply and tighten the connections or replace faulty parts.
Ensure the propane tank is full and the regulator is properly connected. Check for blockages in the burner holes and ensure the control knobs are set to the desired temperature. If issues persist, the regulator may need to be replaced.
To prevent flare-ups, trim excess fat from meats and use a drip pan to catch grease. Keep the grill clean, especially the grease tray, and avoid cooking on excessively high heat.
The Coleman 9958 series is designed for propane use only and cannot be converted to natural gas. Using natural gas could be dangerous and void the warranty.
Clean the grill thoroughly, disconnect the propane tank, and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the grill with a weather-resistant cover and store it in a sheltered area to protect it from the elements.
Check the battery in the igniter and replace if necessary. Ensure the igniter electrode is clean and properly aligned with the burner. If the issue persists, the igniter module may need to be replaced.
