To ignite the Coleman 5400 Series Grill, first ensure that the lid is open. Turn the gas supply on at the propane tank. Push and turn the burner control knob to the high position and then press the ignition button until the burner lights.
If the grill does not ignite, check if the propane tank is full and properly connected. Ensure the ignition button is functioning. If the issue persists, manually light the grill using a match through the match lighting hole.
It is recommended to clean the grill grates after each use. Perform a thorough cleaning of the entire grill every five to ten uses to maintain performance and longevity.
To prevent flare-ups, trim excess fat from meats before grilling and avoid using high heat settings. Keep the lid open when grilling fatty foods to monitor and control flare-ups.
Clean the grill thoroughly and disconnect the propane tank. Store the grill in a dry, covered area. Consider using a grill cover for additional protection against the elements.
If the grill is not heating properly, check for obstructions in the burner tubes and ensure the propane tank is sufficiently filled. Clean the burner ports with a brush if necessary.
To clean the burner tubes, remove the grates and heat distribution plates. Use a brush to clear any debris from the burner tubes, making sure all ports are open and clear.
If you smell gas, immediately turn off the burners and close the propane tank valve. Check all connections for leaks using a soapy water solution and tighten if necessary.
Regularly brush the grates with a grill brush after each use. Occasionally, apply a thin layer of cooking oil to the grates to prevent rust and improve longevity.
The Coleman 5400 Series Grill is designed for use with propane only. Converting it to natural gas is not recommended and may void the warranty.
