To start the generator, ensure it is on a flat surface and that the fuel valve is turned on. Set the choke lever to the 'Start' position, turn the engine switch to 'On', and pull the starter handle gently until you feel resistance, then pull briskly. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the 'Run' position.
The Clarke IG950 inverter generator is designed to run on unleaded petrol with an octane rating of 87 or higher. Avoid using fuel with more than 10% ethanol to prevent damage to the engine.
It is recommended to change the oil after the first 20 hours of use and then every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. Use SAE 10W-30 oil for best performance.
To store the generator, drain the fuel tank and run the carburetor dry to prevent stale fuel from clogging the system. Clean the exterior and store it in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Disconnect the spark plug wire to prevent accidental starting.
If the generator is running but not producing power, check if the AC circuit breaker is turned on and ensure that the connected devices do not exceed the generator's wattage capacity. Additionally, inspect the receptacles and connections for damage.
To reduce noise, place the generator on a solid, level surface and use a sound-absorbing mat underneath. Ensure that the exhaust is pointed away from occupied areas and consider using a generator enclosure designed to dampen sound.
If the generator is hard to start, check the fuel level and quality, make sure the spark plug is clean and properly gapped, and inspect the air filter for dirt and obstructions. Also, ensure the choke is set correctly.
Directly connecting the generator to your home electrical system is not recommended due to safety risks. Use a transfer switch installed by a qualified electrician to safely integrate generator power into your home's wiring.
Routinely check and replace the air filter every 3 months or 50 hours of use. Inspect the spark plug every 100 hours and replace if necessary. Regularly check the fuel system for leaks and clean the exterior.
If the generator shuts down unexpectedly, check for low oil levels as the generator may have an automatic shut-off feature. Ensure the fuel tank is not empty and that the air filter and spark plug are in good condition.
