To winterize your caravan, drain all water systems, including the water heater. Add antifreeze to the plumbing system, close all windows and vents, and remove any perishable items. Consider using a breathable cover for protection.
First, check the main fuses and circuit breakers. Ensure that the battery is charged and connections are clean and tight. If the issue persists, consult a professional technician to inspect the electrical system.
Regularly wash the caravan with mild soap and water. Wax the exterior annually to protect the finish. Inspect and reseal joints and seams to prevent water ingress.
Use leveling ramps or blocks under the wheels to achieve a level position side-to-side. Adjust the jockey wheel to level the caravan front-to-back. Use a spirit level to check the alignment.
It is recommended to service the caravan annually or every 10,000 miles, whichever comes first. Regular maintenance ensures safety and longevity of the caravan.
Immediately shut off the gas supply at the cylinder and ventilate the area. Do not use any electrical appliances or flames. Contact a qualified gas engineer to inspect and repair the leak.
Vacuum the upholstery regularly to remove dust and debris. For stains, use a fabric cleaner suitable for the material. Avoid excessive moisture to prevent mold.
Check the power supply and fuse for the water pump. Ensure there is water in the tank and that the pump is primed. If issues persist, the pump may need replacing or professional servicing.
Align the towing vehicle with the caravan. Lower the hitch onto the tow ball and secure it. Connect the electrical plug and safety chains. Check that the hitch is locked before driving.
Store your caravan in a dry, secure location. Ensure it is clean and free of moisture. Disconnect the battery and consider removing the wheels or using axle stands to prevent tire damage.
