To load staples, first ensure the stapler is disconnected from the air supply. Press the latch release button located at the rear of the stapler to open the magazine. Insert a strip of 71 series staples into the magazine with the points facing downward. Close the magazine until it clicks into place.
If the stapler jams, disconnect it from the air supply. Open the front nose of the stapler by releasing the latch and remove the jammed staple using needle-nose pliers. Ensure the magazine is loaded correctly before resuming use.
The depth of drive can be adjusted using the depth adjustment wheel located near the trigger. Rotate the wheel clockwise to increase the depth and counterclockwise to decrease it. Test on a scrap piece of material to ensure the desired depth.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the stapler after use, lubricating with a few drops of pneumatic tool oil before each use, and inspecting for worn or damaged parts. Also, ensure the air compressor's pressure is set correctly at 60-100 PSI.
A portable air compressor capable of delivering between 60 to 100 PSI is recommended. It should have a regulator to maintain consistent pressure and a moisture trap to prevent water from entering the tool.
If the stapler is not firing, check that the air supply is connected and turned on. Ensure the air pressure is adequate (60-100 PSI) and that no staples are jammed in the nose. Additionally, check for worn seals or O-rings which might need replacement.
The Bostitch TU216-71 is designed for 71 series staples ranging from 1/4 to 5/8 inch in length. Using other types or sizes could cause jamming or damage to the tool. Always refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for compatible staples.
Always wear safety goggles to protect your eyes. Disconnect the stapler from the air supply before loading staples, clearing jams, or performing maintenance. Keep hands clear of the stapling area to avoid injury.
To replace the driver blade, disconnect the stapler from the air supply. Remove the cap screws and the cap, then slide out the piston assembly. Replace the old driver blade with a new one, reassemble the tool, and tighten the cap screws.
Double-firing can occur if the trigger is pulled too quickly or if the air pressure is too high. Adjust the air pressure to within the recommended range (60-100 PSI) and ensure a steady trigger pull. Also, check for worn trigger components that may need replacement.
