To load nails into the Bostitch FN1664K, first ensure the tool is disconnected from the air supply. Pull back the magazine latch, insert the nail strip with the points facing down and towards the nose, then release the latch to secure the nails in place.
The recommended air pressure for operating the Bostitch FN1664K Nailer is between 70 and 120 PSI. Ensure your air compressor is set within this range before use.
To clear a jam, disconnect the nailer from the air supply, open the nose piece by releasing the latch, remove the jammed nail with pliers if necessary, then close the nose piece and reconnect the air supply.
The Bostitch FN1664K is designed to work with 16-gauge straight finish nails ranging from 1-1/4 inch to 2-1/2 inches in length.
Regularly clean the nailer with compressed air and apply a few drops of pneumatic tool oil into the air inlet before each use. Check for worn or damaged parts and replace them as necessary.
Ensure the air pressure is adequate, check for nail jams, and verify that the nails are properly loaded. Additionally, inspect the trigger and safety mechanism for proper operation.
Adjust the depth of drive by rotating the depth adjustment wheel located near the trigger. Turn the wheel to the right for deeper penetration and to the left for shallower penetration.
Air leaks can indicate a worn or damaged seal. Check the O-rings and seals for wear or damage and replace them if necessary. If the issue persists, consult a professional technician.
The FN1664K is not designed for framing; it is a finish nailer intended for trim work, molding, and cabinetry. Use a framing nailer for framing projects.
Always wear safety glasses, keep hands away from the nail point of entry, never bypass the safety features, and disconnect the air supply when not in use or while performing maintenance.
